Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST with a hybrid model of in‑office and work‑from‑home days.
The EHS‑IT team supporting Mass Health (MH) within the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EHS) seeks a Medicaid Systems Development (MSD) Process and Innovation Intern. The intern will support modernization of business processes and evaluate AI solutions to improve the efficiency and accessibility of Mass Health services, documenting business processes and assessing innovation projects, including the Board of Hearings removal of paperwork initiative and AI translation evaluation.
Key Responsibilities- Document “as‑is” workflows for Board of Hearings processes
- Identify opportunities to reduce or eliminate manual paperwork
- Evaluate AI‑based translation tools for key languages (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese)
- Assess solutions based on accuracy, usability, and confidence levels
- Develop recommendations for technology adoption and process improvement
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail for reviewing documentation, validating data, and confirming system outputs.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for notes, summaries, and cross‑team coordination.
- Ability to follow structured processes and work within established MMIS workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 tools, especially Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint; basic understanding of information systems, business processes, or public administration from coursework.
- Analytical thinking to identify discrepancies, interpret requirements, and support operational reviews.
- Undergraduate or graduate student.
- Education status will be verified in accordance with the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM - Benefits: none except sick leave accruals
- Pay: $19 per hour, paid biweekly via direct deposit
