Thompson Facility Services is looking for a Custodial Supervisor who’s passionate about keeping our facilities at Lincoln University spotless, our team motivated, and our operations running smoothly.
In this role, you’ll be a key player in making sure every guest, visitor, and team member enjoys a clean and comfortable experience from the moment they walk through our doors.
The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for leading custodial staff, ensuring campus facilities are maintained to the highest cleanliness and sanitation standards, and supporting a safe, welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
This position requires strong leadership, communication, organizational skills, and hands‑on operational support within a fast‑paced college campus environment.

- Train, coach, and support custodial employees on proper cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
- Assign tasks, manage schedules, and provide regular feedback that helps your team thrive.
- Build a positive, team‑first work environment.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of custodial staff across assigned campus facilities.
- Develop and assign daily work schedules, project assignments, and coverage plan.
- Inspect buildings and work areas to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing feedback and corrective action when necessary.
- Oversee daily cleaning activities like floor care, sanitizing restrooms, waste management, and general upkeep.
- Ensure cleaning protocols are followed and that every space consistently meets our high standards.
- Perform regular walk‑throughs and inspections to keep our facility in top shape.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of custodial equipment, supplies, and chemicals.
- Conduct routine quality inspections and address service deficiencies promptly.
- Assist with floor care projects including stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning, and deep cleaning operations as needed.
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests, weather‑related issues, and facility incidents promptly.
- Maintain inventory levels and submit supply or equipment requests as necessary.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
- Partner with the Manager to restock supplies responsibly and cost‑effectively.
- Ensure proper and safe use of all equipment and materials.
- Ensure the team follows all safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
- Train staff on proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Promote a safety‑first culture.
- Respond quickly and professionally to cleanliness or maintenance requests.
- Work closely with other departments to support special events and facility needs.
- Help ensure every visitor has a positive and welcoming experience.
- Support event setup and breakdown for campus meetings, programs, and special events.
- Keep accurate records of schedules, inspections, and team attendance.
- Share reports and updates with senior leadership.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices and innovative cleaning methods.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of custodial, housekeeping, or facilities maintenance experience required.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial facilities environments preferred.
- Knowledge of custodial procedures, floor care techniques, and cleaning equipment operation.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and campus stakeholders.
- Proficiency in basic computer and reporting functions preferred.
- Reliable attendance and flexibility with scheduling required.
- Experience managing custodial teams in a college or university setting.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, workplace safety practices, and chemical handling procedures.
