In accordance with the Joel Barlow Education Association’s bargaining unit contract. Competitive benefits. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement curriculum aligned with the ACTFL World Language Standards
- Instruct various levels of Spanish, including AP Spanish and ECE courses
- Demonstrate knowledge of teaching methods, materials, and educational practices for secondary school teaching of Spanish
- Collaborate on the development of new courses like MLL credit courses
- Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Appropriate CT teaching certification, Spanish 7-12 (023)
- Strong knowledge base in the Spanish discipline and enthusiasm for teaching
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
- Strong communication skills
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents
- Familiarity with or willingness to pursue ECE certification
- Experience or interest in World Language curriculum writing and development
- Cross certification in additional languages or MLL experience preferred
