Position
Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A
Location3333 South Market Street, CA 96001
Pay Rate$35/hr
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, electrical service, diagnostics, and repair of MTM Transit service vehicles.
- General maintenance and repairs of MTM Transit facilities and grounds.
- Carry out repairs across vehicle types and components: automotive vehicle, light duty truck, heavy duty transit bus powertrains, undercarriage/chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, vehicle accessories, drivability, and diagnosis.
- Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders.
- Assist in maintaining the shop and facility, including servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred ASE certifications for Level A mechanic.
- Valid CDL Class B with air-brake testing, if applicable.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Proficiency in computer skills for electronic repair work orders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to timeliness and detail.
- Safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
- Willingness to attend safety and vehicle repair courses as required.
- Ability to obtain additional ASE certifications when needed.
- Adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Regular attendance required. Ability to perform tasks while sitting, standing, walking, and using hands and fingers to operate tools, with ability to lift 75 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, push, pull, and reach above the head.
Work Environment Requirements
- Work regularly while sitting, standing, walking, and operating tools and equipment.
- Requirements of close visual acuity when operating tools, diagnostic equipment, and computers.
- Exposure to hazardous situations: cuts, bruises, minor burns, moving machinery, chemicals, fumes, noise, and changing temperatures.
- Work indoors and outdoors, including enclosed vehicles, cramped spaces, and under vehicles.
- May require working in cold or hot temperatures and adverse weather during travel.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
- 4+ years of heavy-duty truck or automotive mechanical experience.
- Knowledge of diesel engine mechanics.
