Housekeeping Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our housekeeping team working the following shift:
Saturday and Sunday 16:00-20:00. You will work as a team but also on your own once all training is completed.
- Refreshing water jugs
- Cleaning bathrooms and topping up toilet rolls
- Top up paper towels in the bays and side rooms
- Emptying and cleaning bins then replacing bin bags
- Spot mopping on the ward/area
- Clean allocated work area to agreed standards and frequencies as detailed in work schedules
- Carry out specialised cleaning tasks, including isolation rooms and theatres, to agreed standards
- Follow instructions and suggest improvements in working practices
- Act as a mentor for newly appointed staff, providing on‑job training and instruction
- Occasional exposure to distressing circumstances (e.g., vulnerable/aggressive patients)
- Wear correct PPE in line with IPCT guidelines
- Use correct cleaning method, equipment and materials for surfaces, floors, and sanitary areas
- Replenish supplies of paper hand towels, toilet rolls, soap, hand sanitizer and hand conditioner
- Collect patient water jugs and glasses, refill and redistribute
- Ensure work is carried out safely, with hazard warning signs displayed
- Adhere to departmental colour‑coding policy and Trust Infection Control policies
- Report defective equipment to the housekeeping supervisor
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately
- Basic Education
- Basic IT knowledge
- Experience using cleaning equipment
- Cleaning experience in a healthcare or similar environment
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Being open and honest – communicating clearly and honestly, asking for help when needed
- Ensuring people feel cared for – supporting and nurturing a kind and compassionate environment
- Showing respect for everyone – acting with consideration and fairness, valuing perspectives
