JOB SUMMARY
This counselor leader position is designed to provide support and assistance to other school counselors. The chosen leader will lead teams toward building and maintaining the ASCA National Model and individual school's Framework for their School Counseling Program. This position may take on different specific responsibilities which are identified in the next section. Specific essential duties and responsibilities will directly impact counseling programs in our district.
Individuals that hold a counselor leader position will not be the primary person responsible for each area listed below, but will focus on areas that capitalize upon personal areas of strength while providing input and collaboration on each of the different areas.
It is estimated that the teacher leader will spend one to two hours per week completing the essential functions of their leadership role.
There are 2 elementary positions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a member of the district's student support leadership team and school counselor team.
- Lead positively in an effort to impact school culture and quality which consequently creates environments where students can flourish.
- Connect classroom learning to 2024 social-emotional learning standards.
- Attend meetings and training outside of the regular contract day both in the assigned school and at the district level.
- Be willing to connect and support best counseling practices (research and theory based) with other counselors.
- Participate in system change and transformations that are necessary for school improvement for the benefit of students and the profession.
- Participate in system change work around ASCA National Model, MTSS/RTI, attendance, SEL, Adi's Act- suicide pre, inter and postvention plans, child reporting, etc.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and other stakeholders (parents, district office and community members) about counseling leadership meetings, updates to policies and practices, ASCA implementation
- Demonstrate initiative in engaging colleagues in activities that will lead to improved student achievement in student growth and achievement, attendance and discipline.
- Serve as a resource to other counselors in developing their student learning and growth goals with an emphasis on student growth and achievement, attendance and discipline.
- Provide updates to Redmond Education Association councils as opportunities arise on the educator effectiveness system.

- Must hold a valid Oregon Counselor License.
The compensation begins on the October paycheck.
