Job DescriptionThe University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant 3 to support the Department of English. This position serves as the primary assistant to the Undergraduate and Graduate Program Directors and plays a key role in coordinating a variety of administrative and clerical functions.
Responsibilities- Assisting with the management of departmental budgets, including host and soft money accounts
- Balancing and maintaining financial records
- Processing applications for graduate programs and handling mandatory forms for both undergraduate and graduate students
- Overseeing purchasing and inventory reporting for departmental accounts
- Coordinating with other colleges, departments, offices, faculty, advisors, and campus programs
- Managing class scheduling and student testing
- Providing general support and assistance to students
- Maintaining departmental records, files, and databases
- Processing personnel documentation
- Managing calendars and daily communications
- Required Qualifications – This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms;
and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; - OR One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service;
- OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
- Preferred Qualifications – Candidates with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Workday HRIS system are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience in preparing hiring documents to include experience with rules, regulations, policies and procedures within Human Resources are encouraged to apply. Candidates with budgetary experience to include monitoring accounts, creating and processing related documents, and account reconciliation are encouraged to apply.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation & BenefitsCompensation Grade:
Grade 27. In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code.
