Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking two Project Coordinators to support a federally funded TRIO program within the First-Generation Student Center. The role involves academic advising, college readiness guidance, and program coordination for high school participants, with the goal of preparing students for postsecondary education.
Responsibilities- Deliver direct services including academic advising, course planning, college preparation workshops, and mentoring to support participants in completing a rigorous secondary school curriculum.
- Engage in student recruitment, program implementation, progress monitoring, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Education TRIO program requirements.
- Manage assigned projects, ensuring program success, and deliver high‑quality services to participants.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Upward Bound/Upward Bound Math and Science (UB/UBMS), partner schools, families, and university departments to support student achievement and college access.
- Serve distinct program sites:
Washoe Grant (Hug High School & North Valleys High School) and Northwest Grant (Fernley High School & Silver Stage High School), traveling during the academic year.
- Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience, OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
- Experience advising and counseling low‑income and first‑generation college‑bound high school students, or education curriculum development related experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass required background checks to work with minors.
Schedule & Travel RequirementsRequires a flexible work schedule with significant evening and weekend commitments throughout the academic year, extensive summer availability (including a residential component), overnight and multi‑day travel with students for college tours, training, and program activities, and occasional regional or national travel for professional development, conferences, and grant‑related meetings.
CompensationGrade Administrative Faculty – B (salary available on the University’s salary schedule). Compensation is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
