Position: Luminescence Laboratory Hourly

Job Description

This position will be responsible for assisting with sample preparation for luminescence dating. Additional duties for this position will include sample cutting/slicing, sieving, mineral separation and acid treatments, and logging all progress in our database.

Required Qualifications:

• Good oral and written communication skills, punctual, and good attention to detail
• Experience with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education and/or enrollment in science degree program.
• Lab/fieldwork experience in archaeology, geology or related discipline is an asset.

Compensation Grade

$17.75/hr

Schedule

10-20 hours per week

Physical Requirements

Ability to work at a lab bench, and in dark red light conditions.

Conditions of Employment

• Employee will need to assist with Hydrofluoric acid treatment of samples, slicing of rocks using a low-speed wafer blade, and drilling rocks with a counter top mounted drill using appropriate PPE and safety protocols.
