Role Summary

As Senior HW Design Engineer you will join the Radio Unit team and will be responsible for high-end OpenRAN 5G and 4G mMIMO radio HW RF Circuits design, architecture, development and integration. This position will be based in Richardson, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecting cost-efficient, high-performance RF Transciver architectures for high-end mMIMO radios
  • Deriving Transciver (TX/RX) chain requirement specifications from the system requirements
  • Performance simulations and overall TX/RX line-up analysis
  • Drive RF component and vendor selections
  • Guide PCB layout for the transceiver circuits.
  • Ensure excellent manufacturability
  • Drive and perform HW verification
  • Perform HW bringup and integration
  • Support system level RF performance Testing and perform data analysis.
  • Drive state of the art Technology and Design-to-Cost innovation and execution of the Radio HW
  • Co-operate with colleagues across Mavenir’s HW development Sites in design tools and lab test systems selections and development
  • Ensure production build support for the manufacturing partners for prototypes and volume ramp-up
  • Convert customer requirements and expectations to best in class design innovation
  • Job Requirements

  • In depth theoretical and practical knowledge on RF circuit/Radio design. Example, discrete LNA design, Impedence matching, receiver or transmitter line up calculation etc.
  • Proven track record from RF Circuit and System design for 5G or 4G radios
  • In-depth knowledge on Radio RF Performance parameters
  • Strong RF Circuit troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of HW/SW interface
  • Knowledge on digital and mechanical design
  • Experience with various PWB materials and large multi-layer layouts
  • Familiarity with electronics, PWB and mechanical components supplier base and supply chain
  • Deep knowledge on cost efficient manufacturing methodologies and technologies
  • Hands-on experience with design tools. Example: ADS, AWR, HFSS etc.
  • Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills
  • Curiosity to continuosly learn and innovate
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
  • Hands on knowledge on RF measurement tools. Example, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer etc.
  • Knowledge on test automation using scripts.
  • Qualification:
  • BS Degree or higher in EE
  • At least 7+ years’ experience in telecommunication industry in RF circuit design and Radio HW integration role roles
