Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities:
Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory, plus operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, and other support facilities.
The position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4×10 schedule, M–Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Selected applicants need to be able and willing to work weekends, night shift (5:30 pm to 4:00 am), and as needed.
The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders. Through coordination and instruction of subcontractor management staff, you will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall schedules and that work methods are executed safely. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities- Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Supports mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders.
- Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of construction activities relating to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
- Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site (even if teleworking, must still comply with security requirements).
