The Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients in the ICU. The staff nurse provides direction to non-licensed assertive personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital.
Graduation from an acredited nursing program.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Previous clinical nursing experience. Previous CV/Post-Op open heart experience preferred.
Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse, or Graduate Nurse, Board Eligible. American Heart Association BLS required. Completion of Advance Cardiac Life Support within six months of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Interpersonal and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication and team work skills. Basic clinical, computer & typing skills.
The unit/department is staffed to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. It requires working weekends and holidays. Generally scheduled 12 hour shifts day or night rotations. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to float to other nursing units where deemed competent, flex hours or rotate days off without pay.
