WhatYou Will Do
Working solo or with a team, you will maintain and repair vehicles for Cox Fleet to make them look and run like new, delivering exceptional service to customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies. Perform light and major repairs and advanced vehicle diagnostics. Interact with customers with strong interpersonal skills while supporting the service center’s performance with integrity and trust.
- Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance (OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, driveline components, etc.).
- Maintain/repair equipment (cable trailers, laptop docking stations, etc.).
- Keep shop area clean and tidy. Perform work in accordance with safety standards. Dispose of fluids safely and in accordance with regulations.
- Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records. Up-fit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
- Perform more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, and fabrication.
- Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs; may perform roadside assistance as needed.
- Provide custom equipment and engage in equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks including welding.
- Ensure availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace automotive parts and accessories; lead diagnostics including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety and emissions testing, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
- Have medium/heavy truck experience, booms/hydraulics, electrical, and complex repairs, design, and fabrication; skilled in diesel and transmission repairs.
- Work on multiple applications from Light-Duty to Class A-Heavy Trucks, Mechanical Equipment, Machinery, and more; supervise shop productivity, provide work direction, and identify priorities for a small staff of Technicians.
- Assist the Area Manager with training compliance, HR compliance with PTO, holidays, and timecards; ensure SOPs are implemented at the shop.
- Maintain shop tools and identify tool needs; communicate with leadership.
- Contribute to shop morale by distributing work and providing guidance and coaching; act as primary assistant to manager in assigning work.
