Assistant Professor; CoSGS

The Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research, and university community service in accordance with Alfaisal University policies and procedures as set forth in the Faculty Handbook.

• Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Academic Department Head and may include serving as an academic advisor.
• Review and maintain the integrity of the curriculum offered by the college in collaboration with the Department Chair to ensure academic quality standards.
• Teach courses, conduct tutorial sessions, and when needed, teach laboratories in accordance with course outlines and the Alfaisal University workload policy.
• Participate in student advising about their academic progress, i.e. academic advising to support degree completion.
• Establish instructional standards in accordance with college policies and inform students in writing (syllabi) of such standards and policies to ensure transparency and consistency.
• Design and develop undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with the curriculum and Alfaisal University objectives to meet Alfaisl academic goals.
• Develop and deliver assessments that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives to ensure valid learning evaluation.
• Provide the necessary feedback to students about their exam results within reasonable deadlines set by the college to promote continuous academic improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and post final grades within the deadlines after their approval by the Department Chair to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Post and maintain regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and students for advice and consultation to facilitate academic communication.
• Participate in evaluation processes such as peer evaluation of teaching performance to enhance instructional effectiveness.
• Prepare course specifications, course reports, and course portfolios in accordance with related accreditation agencies’ standards (NCAAA, ABET) to maintain accreditation compliance requirements.
• Contribute to scholarly research and publication activities related to the field to advance academic knowledge and development.
• Contribute towards administrative assignments through various committees, university services, and social responsibilities to support institutional governance effectiveness.
• Perform all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner, as required or assigned by the manager.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English and Literature, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in teaching and learning or a related field, including at least one (1) year in research and scholarly contributions.
