POSITION: QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER OF OPERATIONS

DEPARTMENT: QUALITY

REPORTS TO: CORPORATE DIRECTOR OF QUALITY

FLSA: EXEMPT

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager of Operations coordinates the daily activities of the Quality Assurance Auditors and Examiners, providing leadership, training and supervision, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company's policies and applicable laws. The Manager’s responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing and supervising a group of employees involved in inspection and quality control procedures with regard to purchased material, in-process material and finished products to assure that quality control standards are achieved.

  • Addressing non-conformities from previous internal and external audits through quality internal audits.

  • Conducts a Management Review of the Quality System.

  • Insuring organizational systems and training are in place.

  • Ensuring that documentation and design controls are appropriate for organization.

  • Offer suggestions with regard to procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.

  • Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual situations to determine appropriate outcome.

  • Responsible for compilation and maintenance of inspection reports and records.

  • Investigate and determine cause of faulty work and consult and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.

  • Responsible for inspection group in terms methods and personnel.

  • Knowledge of Inspection and Quality Control methods, techniques and equipment.

  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned by Quality Director.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Leadership: Ability to train, mentor, and assist Quality Assurance personnel in skills, abilities and knowledge related to quality inspection.

  • Supervision: Directs and manages staff to ensure that departmental goals are met.

  • Attention to detail: Recognizes and identifies deviations from requirements.

  • Communication: Effectively communicates verbally and in writing; accurately records inspection results, including descriptions of examined product.

  • Customer focus: Anticipates customer needs, gives high priority to customer satisfaction and service. Provides information and results accurately, courteously, in a timely manner

  • Organization: Keeps working area neat and organized. Arrives on time to work and works to meet deadlines efficiently

  • Teamwork: Collaborates and cooperates with all departments to resolve issues. Knows when to ask for information and assistance, and assesses the long-term impact of decisions. Demonstrates a willing, positive, and proactive attitude

  • Company policy awareness: Understands and complies with Arkay company policies and guidelines as described in the Employee Handbook and the Quality System.

Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 5-7 years experience in Quality Control within a manufacturing environment

  • A minimum of 3-5 years Supervisory experience in Quality Control within the Printing/Packaging industry

Equipment:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Ability to access and navigate the Internet is required

  • Use of multi-line phone

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently
  • Bending, standing, stooping, walking for at least 8+ hours/day on concrete

  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms frequently

  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to focus frequently
