Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the safety of manufacturing personnel and ensuring appropriate and effective training and communications are maintained throughout the year. Investigates all safety issues promptly. Uses appropriate continuous improvement & engineering tools and EH&S resources for root cause and corrective action analysis of safety events, as well as opportunities for improvement. Takes appropriate actions to implement corrective actions quickly to insure employee safety.

* Manages, develops, trains, coaches, and evaluates department members. This includes developing annual goals and objectives in alignment with company goals and objectives and conducting annual performance appraisals for all direct reports. Capable of carrying out needed operations strategies and maintaining positive employee relations through an effective manufacturing floor presence.

* Responsible for the development of a daily/weekly/monthly production schedule utilizing scheduling tools and material flow inputs.

* Responsible for the execution of the of the production schedules, working with the operators, department resources, and support functions in successful execution of the schedule.

* Monitors and works to achieve key performance indicator (KPI) targets, which are designed and directed to deliver business plan objectives. Elements include safety performance; cost of poor quality; optimization of labor; material variances; and productivity targets.

* Leads engagement in continuous improvement using appropriate lean tools and techniques to achieve world class manufacturing performance.

* Participates in daily production review meeting with management team. Works with facility cost accounting in updating daily, weekly, and monthly KPI's, reports out on daily performance, identification and addressing of opportunities, and forward planning for the safe execution of production efforts.

* Plans and develops methods, work instructions, standard operating procedures as needed to support the QMS & MOS (quality management systems and manufacturing operation systems).

* Position is part of the Rochester site leadership team, and as such provides back up to other operational leaders when absent, performing all necessary duties.

* Engages with Human Resources on recruitment efforts. Leads departmental training reviews with management and human resources.

* Provides input to setting up budget allocations based on a given budget; controls expenditures accordingly.

* Coordination of time and attendance system / labor reporting, coupled with daily approval of time and attendance, including pay codes.

* Ensures that company policies and procedures are followed in a consistent manner in coordination with the Human Resource Department.

* Serve as an active participant in Lydall continuous improvement programs that promote continuous improvement within the business.

* Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education , Experience,

Skills and Abilities

Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

* Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent in related field or experience.

* Ten years of experience in a related production environment in a similar industry, including three years managing staff, programs, and budgets.

* Experience in polymer processing, film, or related nonwovens industries.

* One to three years of working experience with lean manufacturing principles.

* Strong verbal, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.

* Awareness and understanding of key Operational cost accounting metrics and measures, to help manage departmental financial KPIs.

* Ability to organize, manage and control workflow with lean principles and techniques.

* Ability to meet deadlines.

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred:

* Green or Black Belt certified

* One to three years of working experience with ISO: 9001

* Project Management skills

* High level of business acumen

* Work in a continuous manufacturing process, preferably with a composite forming machine.
