Travel Registered Nurse First Assist

Overview

Registered Nurse – First Assist (RNFA) needed for a travel assignment in Rochester, NY. This role supports DaVinci robotic surgery and requires CNOR certification and completion of an RNFA program.

Start date:

06/08/2026. Contract duration: 13 weeks. Shift: 12-hour days (3x12). Weekly pay: $2,832–$3,040. On-call responsibilities per unit need through evenings (up to 11 pm); weekends and holidays not routinely required unless unit needs dictate. The RNFA collaborates with the surgeon and perioperative team to provide safe, efficient patient care in the operating room environment.

  DaVinci robotic surgery experience and CNOR certification

• Provide RN First Assistant duties during robotic-assisted operations, in collaboration with the surgeon to support safe, efficient patient care
• Scrub and circulate as needed when not serving in the RNFA role, maintaining perioperative standards
• Assist with patient positioning, exposure, suction, hemostasis, and instrument handling under surgeon direction
• Support robotic port placement, instrument setup, and management of robotic systems and supplies
• Maintain sterile technique, validate counts, and ensure readiness of equipment and supplies for assigned cases
• Document perioperative care, participate in safety checks, and adhere to unit policies and hospital protocols
• Respond to on-call needs per unit scheduling (evenings up to 11 pm); no routine weekends or holidays unless required by the unit

• Active New York RN license
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program
• CNOR certification required
• DaVinci robotics experience required (across Urology, Gynecology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, Thoracic, and General surgery)
• Minimum two years OR experience;
  Level I trauma experience preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Demonstrated ability to scrub and circulate; strong perioperative nursing knowledge
• Ability to work in an operating room/perioperative setting and collaborate with surgeons and staff
