OverviewThe Truck Mechanic independently performs truck outfitting which would include assembly of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical components to truck chassis. This would include diagnostics, quality checks and full functionality checks of truck and equipment installed on truck.
Duties & Responsibilities Truck outfitting- Perform PDI checks and settings on truck chassis and heavy equipment.
- Install mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment on trucks and heavy equipment.
- Full functional checks on equipment installed.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues that arise during functionality checks.
- Diagnose and repair all mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems (disassembly, assembly, and repair).
- Observe and listen to vehicle operations, obtain diagnostic information, identify root cause malfunctions, plan work procedures, and perform necessary repairs on vehicles.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (such as fluid and various filter changes, testing of batteries, adjustments to brake system, and lubricating moving parts of equipment).
- Perform advanced mechanical work (such as engine or transmission diagnosis/repair/replacement).
- Ability to perform quality checks to ensure work is done correctly with equipment ready to give to customers. This would include the understanding of how the equipment is expected to function.
- Experience with diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate.
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement (CDL) preferred.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly manner.
- Adhere strictly to all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Must maintain thorough understanding of OSHA systems and standards, and a commitment to a safe working environment, ensuring all employees and customers are always kept safe.
- Work within the guidelines set by the managers.
- Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Manager or Foreman.
- Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Mentor and oversee other assemblers and/or mechanics.
