POSITION SUMMARY:

Associate Marketing Director, Immunoassays is responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of product management and launch of MSD products to the marketplace. This position manages a team of Product and Marketing Managers and collaborates cross-functionally with other teams including R&D, Quality, Creative, as well as other marketing individuals across the organization to achieve company goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop a wide and in-depth knowledge of customer requirements, the competitive environment; and develop strategies and tactics to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace.

* Coach, train and mentor a team of Product and Marketing managers
* Participate in hiring activities of Product and Marketing managers

o Understand how customers use MSD immunoassays and competitor products, what other products and technologies would be of importance to them, how they make decisions to choose one product over another and where they look for this information, and how these decisions can be influenced.

o Choose the right channels to communicate with and engage with customers

o Create marketing collateral that is appropriate for the customer segment and needs

* Develop key indicators of marketing performance and effectiveness.

o Monthly tracking and monitoring of key marketing metrics including, but not limited to, number of contacts/profiles generated, number of new accounts, and assay revenue.

o Monitors and analyzes ROI for marketing spend and adjusts marketing tactics appropriately to maximize return.

Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or business related discipline required
* MBA or PhD strongly preferred
* Minimum 3 years in a similar role including solid experience developing marketing strategy and successfully implementing marketing plans.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Knowledge of the following key competencies: 4Ps and marketing mix, marketing communication, communication channels, channels-to-market, segmentation, value proposition and marketing program development and execution.
* Intensely customer focused with ability to translate voice of customer VOC insights into impactful marketing programs.
* Demonstrate excellence in teamwork, commitment, planning and organization.
* Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to communicate frequently on marketing program effectiveness and solution planning to meet campaign and revenue targets.
* This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel and will require direct customer communication, public presentation, and a team-focused approach.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
* A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding research environment with changing priorities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office. Some travel required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a standard office environment.
