Floyd County is looking for a Manager Parks Maintenance.
Job SummaryThe purpose of this classification is to ensure safe, attractive, and well‑maintained parks and recreational facilities for the citizens of Floyd County through effective supervision, maintenance operations, and responsible resource management.
Essential FunctionsThe following functions are typically associated with this position. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical extension of this role. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Supervises, directs, trains, and evaluates assigned staff; schedules work, monitors performance, and addresses personnel issues.
- Coordinates and oversees maintenance, repair, and improvement of parks, athletic fields, facilities, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Plans, assigns, and inspects grounds maintenance activities including mowing, trimming, irrigation repairs, tree maintenance, and landscaping.
- Performs and oversees horticultural operations, including the application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with safety regulations.
- Manages the operation, maintenance, and safety of aquatic facilities, including pool maintenance and water quality monitoring.
- Coordinates athletic field preparation, facility rentals, special events, and recreational activities to ensure readiness and customer satisfaction.
- Monitors, directs, transports, and ensures the security of inmate work crews assigned to maintenance projects.
- Assists with budgeting, purchasing, recordkeeping, inspections, reports, and other administrative functions to support departmental operations.
High School graduation or equivalent, and five (5) years of experience in parks maintenance, grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, facility maintenance, athletic field maintenance, or a closely related field, including at least one (1) year of lead worker or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must possess and maintain a Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification as a Basic Correctional Officer within one (1) year of hire.
