Position:  Dance Teacher (Pre- Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Con and Hip Hop)
Position:  Dance Instructor (Pre- Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop) (Up to $25/hour DOQ)
Up to $25/hour, depending on experience.

SUMMARY

The Dance Instructor is responsible for the planning and teaching of instructional dance classes for students.
3 years teaching experience required. (Classes available are Pre- Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop)
Class times and ages taught are as follows:


Monday

Twirling Tots (2-3yr) 11:15am-12pm

Pre-ballet (5-6yr) 5-5:45pm

Jr. Jazz (5-6yr) 5:45-6pm



Tuesday

Twirling Tots (2-3yr) 11:15am-12pm

Adult Tap 5-6pm

Tap 2/3 (10-14) 6-7pm

Jazz 2 (10-12) 7-8pm



Wednesday

Intro to Tap (5-6yr) 4:30-5:15pm

Hippity Hop (5-6yr) 5:15-6pm

Tap 1 (7-9yr) 6-7pm



Thursday

Creative Movement (3-4yr) 5-5:45pm

Contemporary 1 (7-9yr) 6-7pm
Position Requirements
High School,   3 to 4 Years work experience
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
1.Must be 16 years old
2.Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
3.Minimum of two to three years’ experience in working with children in a fun learning environment.
4.Must have formal instruction in the dance field as well as knowledge of various forms of dance and teaching techniques.
5.Must be self-motivated and responsible.
6.Ability to follow directions and communicate both verbally and in writing.
7.Ability to teach a variety of levels in a group setting.
8.Ability to deal with residents, staff and job responsibilities under stressful conditions.
9.Ability to control children within a classroom setting.
10.Must be able to respond to and handle children’s behaviors in a positive appropriate manner.
11.CPR/First Aid certification, preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

1.Develops skill appropriate lesson plans that follow a logical progression throughout the session.
2.Provide participants with general information regarding the expectations and format of the classes.
3.Provide a fun and safe environment to learn the essentials of various types of dance.
4.Updates class attendance sheets every day classes meet.
5.Responsible for the choreography, costuming and overall production of the dance recitals.
6.Maintain a neat and orderly work environment including dance rooms and storage.
7.Responsible for the choice of music and dance.
8.Demonstrate the dance moves and choreography.
9.Maintain a positive working relationship with subordinates, co-workers and the general public.
10.Participates at required staff meetings and training sessions.
11.Wears appropriate attire during working hours.
12.Carry out the directions of the Recreation Supervisor.
13.Treats public complaints and concerns with the utmost attention. Is courteous in all cases.
14.May perform other duties as necessary.
