Lead Operating Engineer
Develop your engineering career at JLL! The Lead Operating Engineer will lead the day-to-day plant operations at the Rosedale Center with minimal supervision. Advanced technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems is required, along with strong problem-solving, time management, communication, and team leadership. This role represents a career advancement opportunity for experienced Senior Operating Engineers, offering increased responsibilities and scope within Engineering Services.
The Rosedale Center is a multi-level, 1.4 million square foot, Class A building, including inline stores, out pads, a theater and four anchor stores:
Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Von Maur. The Lead Operating Engineer works on-site to address tenant and management concerns swiftly and professionally, delivering service that meets Class A standards.
Location: On-site – Roseville, MN
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7am–3pm
Compensation: $35–$38/hour based on experience
What you’ll do
- Complete assigned tasks including painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting systems (bulbs/ballasts as allowed by licensing), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work and general maintenance
- Assist in supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program
- Maintain the work order system (CMMS) daily and complete tenant service requests
- Assist in providing training and supervision to expand the capabilities of the Engineering team
- Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable)
- Troubleshoot building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls
- Comply with safety procedures
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
- Other projects and tasks as assigned
What you bring to the table
- 3–5 years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
- Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
- Boiler Engineer License – Current 1C with the ability to obtain Chief
- Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
- Leadership/supervisory experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
- Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive
- Strong customer service skills

Estimated total compensation
Estimated total compensation for this position: 79,040.00 USD per year. The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
