Assistant State Attorney Position – St. Augustine, FL

We are looking for dedicated lawyers who want to try cases, keep their community safe, and receive professional satisfaction, making justice a reality for the citizens of the Seventh Judicial Circuit.

The Office of State Attorney R.J. Larizza is seeking dedicated professionals to serve as prosecuting attorneys. The successful applicant must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar and be a self‑starter with common sense, a good sense of humor, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to relate to the victims of crime. Good judgment and discretion are essential.

Prior internships working in criminal law, Moot Court, trial team, litigation clinic, and/or law review participation in law school are a plus, but not required.

General Description

This position represents the State of Florida in all criminal and civil cases as prescribed by law. You will be entrusted with the power and authority given to the State Attorney and expected to exercise this power properly and professionally.

Job Duties

An Assistant State Attorney position is historically not a 9‑5 job. You must have the ability to work more than 40 hours per week, as necessary. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for a MISDEMEANOR ASA will start at a minimum of $75,000 but can be higher depending on qualifications and experience. The salary for FELONY is commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The position includes an excellent benefits package with health benefits, dental benefits, paid annual leave, paid sick leave, paid state holidays, and a state retirement package.
