Position: Speech Therapist (SLP)/Clinical Fellow
Location: St. Charles

General Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluation, creation, and implementation of therapy plans, accurate and reliable data collection, consultation, and training with family and staff. Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and maintain therapy plans that address all speech and language and/or feeding needs of the clients. Oversight for speech and language direct services will be provided by the Sr.

Director-Speech.

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) operates in a professional and clinical environment and will also be responsible for collecting data on target behaviors during sessions. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, have the ability to read, analyze and respond to inquiries or complaints from clients and effectively present information to top management.

This is a full‑time position and may be considered for a part‑time position if preferred.

Essential Functions,

Duties & Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Caseload expectations:
    Maintain a comprehensive therapy plan for each client while maintaining a 45 sessions per week scheduled caseload unless otherwise directed by Sr. Director Speech. Speech and feeding session durations are scheduled for 30 minutes, with a frequency based on the clinician's recommendations.
  • Documentation responsibilities include: pre‑authorizations, initial evaluations, re‑evaluations, insurance reports, progress reports, and SOAP notes. Templates for all documentation are available on the electronic database system used across the company.
  • Provide individual therapy to clients focusing on a variety of areas including speech, language, feeding (in IL market only), AAC, and social skills.
  • Participate in collaboration with BCBAs, OTs, outside providers, and families to provide a consistent continuum of care for clients.
  • Maintain current licensure and certification with state organization as well as American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) while abiding by the ethical standards.
  • Represent BY YOUR SIDE to local, state, and national organizations in a positive manner when attending professional seminars.
  • Provide input and assist in the ongoing growth and development of BY YOUR SIDE.
  • Travel, as necessary, to other centers to participate in required trainings such as CPR, Safety Care Training, and professional development.
  • Uphold and maintain BYS core principles, policies and procedures and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Certifications Required
  • Permanent licensure provided by state organization. Temporary license must be obtained prior to starting Clinical Fellowship year, if applicable.
  • Illinois:
    Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence as provided by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA), if not in Clinical Fellowship Year.
Skills Required
  • High interest in working with children on autism spectrum, flexibility and dependability with schedule.
  • Familiarity with relevant assessment tools and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of sensory and behavioral strategies.
  • Exceptional problem solving and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and adjust style and approach, as appropriate to explore different avenues as a way of embracing change and providing the highest quality of therapy.
