Construction Manager, Data Center Construction at Amazon Data Services, Inc. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to customers. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating with teams across AWS to deliver safety, security, and scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost.

As our Data Center Construction Manager (CM), you will be part of a diverse, upbeat, and creative team solving problems related to constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers exemplify energy-efficient and cost-effective designs.

• Own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction of new builds or general capital projects.
• Own construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities.
• Collaborate with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to build Data Centers that support customers.
• Lead in your discipline (construction management, building services, architectural, electrical, or mechanical engineering).
• Represent Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites daily, interacting with construction trades.
• Act as Amazon’s construction representative on multiple data center sites from start through hand-off to operations.
• Direct interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases.
• Define construction project scope and issue requests for proposals.
• Negotiate with general contractors and evaluate bids and proposals with accuracy.
• Manage cost, schedule, and quality while coordinating construction contractors and vendors.
• Perform project management activities including documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.
• Drive construction teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause failure analysis on equipment failures.
• Support commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight.
• Support operations of installed facilities, reviewing procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
• Support capital request creation and report construction progress and financials.
• Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
• Contribute to construction initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and data center resiliency.
• Provide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

• 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure experience.
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
• Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
