Substitute Part-time Library Associate 1, Salem Public Library (Salem)

Part time, non-union position; up to 19 hours per week with no benefits or regularly scheduled hours.

Must have evening availability 5:00pm-9:00pm; weekend availability on Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm.

Provides circulation services to adults and children, including checking library materials in and out, reserving books, and answering telephone inquiries.

Provides reference services including answering inquiries, basic technical assistance, reserving and checking out museum passes, and provides printing, faxing and copying assistance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to communicate orally and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and co-workers.

Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with patrons in a busy urban environment.

Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order quickly and accurately; ability to check and verify information and to maintain records.

Prior customer service experience required.

The work environment is usually quiet, except for the Children's Room.
