Part-time position supporting youth education, family engagement, and Jewish learning. Temple Beth Sholom seeks a thoughtful, organized, and engaging Religious School Director to lead and strengthen its youth education program (Baneinu, meaning "our children"). This part-time role oversees curriculum, teacher support, family communication, program coordination, and the day-to-day administration of Religious School offerings in partnership with the Rabbi, staff, and the Youth Education Committee.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and oversee youth education programming in collaboration with the Rabbi and Youth Education Committee.
* Recruit, supervise, support, and evaluate teachers and other youth education staff.
* Develop curriculum and learning experiences that promote Jewish identity, Hebrew learning, and meaningful engagement with Jewish values and traditions.
* Plan the annual calendar for Baneinu, Jew Crew, family programs, and intergenerational learning opportunities.
* Coordinate enrollment, attendance, records, classroom resources, scheduling, and other administrative needs for youth education programs.
* Communicate clearly with parents, staff, clergy, and the broader congregation regarding programs, schedules, and student engagement.
* Help resolve classroom or program concerns and foster a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students and families.
* Collaborate with the Youth Education Committee to strengthen programming, share updates, address challenges, and support family and volunteer engagement.
* Attend Religious School sessions and other key youth education events, celebrations, and activities throughout the year.
* Develop and oversee a Madrichim program to engage teens as classroom helpers, support student retention, strengthen Jewish identity, and build a pipeline of future teachers and leaders.
* In coordination with the Rabbi, create family-centered Shabbat experiences that foster multigenerational participation and connect Baneinu families more fully with synagogue life.
• Work with the Holiday Observance Committee to ensure family needs are reflected in programming and that events are welcoming and accessible for families.
Qualifications
* BS/BA preferred, prefer advanced degree in education, education administration, Jewish education, or related field.
* Experience in Jewish education, youth programming, school administration, or a related leadership role.
* Strong understanding of Jewish traditions, Hebrew, Jewish practices, culture, and values, with the ability to translate them into engaging educational experiences.
* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and families.
* Commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children and families.

Expected
Hours:
The position includes Sunday in-person Religious School hours and attendance at key youth education celebrations, family programs, and related activities throughout the year. Employee shall be an ex officio member of the TBS Board of Trustees and is expected to attend board meetings regularly.
Reports to:
Executive Director, with partnership and oversight from the Youth Education Committee and collaboration with the Rabbi.
