The Construction Engineering Services Practice is seeking a CAD Drafter / Designer in Salem, OR. (Remote possible.)
We’re looking for a skilled Senior
CAD Technician who thrives in a collaborative environment and is excited to contribute to the design and construction of vital transportation projects: roads, highways, and bridges. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, using cutting‑edge tools and software to turn concepts into reality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed CAD drawings, layouts, and graphics for a variety of transportation projects, including roadway design and curb ramps.
- Translate engineering markups into polished construction documents, maintaining precision and consistency.
- Produce plan sets with minimal direction and work independently.
- Coordinate/lead CAD production on project teams.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art software such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Micro Station, Open Roads Designer, and Bluebeam.
- Support design tasks under the direction of licensed engineers using industry standards.
- Maintain structured drawing files, adhere to company drafting standards, and support project‑specific standards as needed.
- Collaborate through file‑sharing systems like Project Wise and participate in quality assurance reviews.
- Track quantities, update contract drawings, and contribute to project success within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Review all work for completeness and accuracy. Participate in company‑ and project‑driven quality control and assurance processes.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of drafting experience with a focus on civil engineering projects.
- Proficiency in Micro Station/Open Roads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and identify, prioritize, and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
- Experience with transportation projects including the Department of Transportation and/or other local agencies, including ODOT.
- Associate of Applied Science in Civil Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for precision.
