Full Time HLTA - Salisbury
Full time HLTA – a supportive and community-focused junior school in Salisbury is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to join from September for the full academic year. The school emphasizes an environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to achieve their best, alongside academic progress. There is a real emphasis on developing confidence, resilience and kindness. Staff work collaboratively to provide an engaging and inclusive curriculum, and strong relationships with families support each child’s development.
With access to excellent outdoor spaces, the school encourages learning beyond the classroom, giving children opportunities to explore and develop in a well‑rounded way. In this role you will support the smooth running of the school day, stepping into lessons when needed, working with pupils across different year groups and supporting those who may need additional help.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher
- Deliver lessons across a range of subjects within Key Stage 2
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
- Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources
- Monitor pupil progress and behaviour, feeding back to teachers and senior leaders
- Support assessment and tracking of pupil attainment
- Hold HLTA status or an equivalent qualification
- Have experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA
- Be confident leading a class independently
- Have strong classroom management skills
- Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Have a good understanding of the primary curriculum
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or complex needs
- Knowledge of phonics or intervention programmes
- Experience covering lessons across different year groups
- Familiarity with assessment or tracking systems
