This is a continuing assignment effective September 1, 2026.

This assignment is Elementary Music K-6 and Band 7/8. The exact scheduling of this assignment will be determined in consultation with the principal.

• Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch
• Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:

• successful experience in Elementary Music and Band instruction
• excellent classroom management skills
• evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents
• demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods
• working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for the Fine Arts
• commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning
• ability to teach ukulele, recorder, guitar, orff, dance and choir
• demonstrated ability to work collegially as part of a school staff
• comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events
• ability to relate effectively to all elementary school students
• ability to promote support for a school’s Music program
• successful recent experience working with students with special needs
• current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology in the Music classroom
