About

The Role

The Interior Design Manager provides leadership within the Interior Design team, supporting staff management, project scheduling, and mentorship while driving design excellence from concept through construction. You will develop and review design and construction documents, coordinate closely with clients, oversee construction administration activities, and ensure code and contract compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide basic BIM lead for interior building projects.
  • Lead in preparing small to mid-size construction documents, drawings, and presentation materials.
  • Research health and safety code requirements to inform design.
  • Advise clients on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.
  • Estimate material requirements and costs, and present design to client for approval.
  • Research and explore the use of new materials, technologies, and products to incorporate into designs.
  • Conduct research on building codes, materials, and design standards.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines under direction of senior team members.
  • Support preparation of permit packages and improvement plans.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to design discussions.
  • Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items.

Qualifications
  • Possesses an excellent understanding of building systems and design.
  • Possesses working knowledge of value engineering.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of the construction process.
  • Understands permitting and certification processes for building projects.
  • Understands codes and standards in building design.
  • Understands basic tenants of various engineering reports associated with project construction.
  • Understands and assists in the management of construction schedules and budgets.
  • Can review and understanding construction pay applications, change orders, requests for information, and other construction-related documentation.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge in various agencies and disciplines involved in the construction process; integrates and coordinates all parties for successful completion of construction projects.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of project budgets and scheduling.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Is proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Adobe Photoshop, Google Sketch Up, COMcheck-EZ, and Microsoft Project.
Education
  • Bachelor’s in architecture or environmental design, or equivalent work experience.
Experience
  • Typically, a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Interior Design field
  • Experience in large-scale multifamily and mixed-use projects
  • Multifamily and mixed-use experience strongly preferred
Salary

The estimated starting salary pay range for this role is $75,000-$90,000
