Primary PurposeSupervise the campus custodial operations. Establish and follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
Qualifications- Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. - Candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of a fingerprinting background check. Non‑refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
- Ability to read and understand instructions in English for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
- Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
Three years experience in custodial services.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Custodial Management- Direct and monitor the work of custodians at the assigned campus.
- Help train custodians.
- Direct and assist in setting up facilities for special events.
- Evaluate subordinate custodians in conjunction with the Campus Administrator.
- Order custodial supplies as needed and maintain a monthly product inventory list.
- Implement and maintain established cleaning schedules that include cleaning of floors, windows, window sills, blinds, chalkboards, wastebaskets, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
- Dust, sweep, and mop floors on a daily basis; replace light bulbs as necessary.
- Scrub/strip wax floors as scheduled.
- Cleans and sanitizes restroom fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, and floors as necessary.
- Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean; sweep exterior walkways.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
- Set up tables, chairs, etc. for school meetings, social functions and other events.
- Performs minor maintenance work, such as removing and replacing pencil sharpeners as needed.
- Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Perform minor paint touch‑ups as needed.
- Assist with minor lawn work and landscaping.
- Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to the principal.
- Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
- Assume responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day.
- Oversee procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
- Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
- Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any safety hazards or conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
- Know the location and proper use of fire extinguishers.
- Relieve, assist, or fill in temporarily on other jobs as assigned by the supervisor based on district‑wide needs.
Assume additional workload and job‑related duties as required and/or assigned.

Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater; small hand tools; small power tools. Posture:

Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, overhead reaching. Lifting:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis. Environment:
Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours. Mental Demands:
