Job Summary:
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Opera Theatre, Professor Stacey Fraser, the incumbent(s) will provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew, and technicians throughout the production process. The student assistants will help facilitate rehearsals, maintain rehearsal documentation, and assist with backstage operations during performance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew, and technicians throughout the production process.
- Be the director's representative during performances, making sure that the production runs smoothly.
- Work side by side with director, recording the director's decisions about blocking and notes for the actors.
- Blocking must be notated in the “prompt book” by measure number and accompanying “mini” diagram of the stage set-up.
- Be “on book” for every rehearsal and be ready to call out measure numbers for the music director.
- Keep track of logistical and scheduling details, and communicate what goes on in rehearsals to the rest of the team.
- Ensure all music has been copied and distributed to cast and crew as appropriate. Music for the Music Director and cast should be double-sided and hole‑punched. Create and update prompt book for every rehearsal. Call cues for performances.
- Assist in rehearsals, maintain rehearsal documentation, and assist with the backstage operations during performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special
Qualification:
Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full‑time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)

Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
