The Quality Engineering Intern will support the development, implementation, and optimization of effective and efficient quality control solutions across company processes. This role will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by assisting with testing, inspection, data analysis, and process evaluation activities.

The intern will gain hands‑on experience applying core quality methodologies, including 5S implementation, SOP development, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and process standardization. This position offers direct exposure to real‑world quality systems within a fast‑paced, manufacturing and technology‑driven environment.

The Quality Engineering Intern will be an integral member of the Quality & Performance Team, collaborating cross‑functionally to support operational excellence and drive measurable performance improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and analyze daily laboratory activities and processes to look for potential improvements
  • Lead activities needed to maintain the AASHTO accreditation
  • 5S methodologies and implementation in the Process lab to eliminate bottlenecks and increase throughput
  • Get familiar with analytical equipment for compilation and analysis of data to provide visibility for potential solutions
  • SOP refinement of all the activities that are done inside R&D department and Analytical Trailer at Redding
  • Assist and support teammates from the R&D Department in creating lean processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of study in Industrial Engineering or related field, or a related field by the start of the internship
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in a hands‑on environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to document findings and prepare clear, concise lab reports
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ months of experience in a laboratory setting preferred
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance methodologies such as 5S, root cause analysis, and continuous process improvement preferred
  • Coursework in quality systems, process improvement, or related topics preferred
COMPENSATION

The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
