Systems Engineer
THE ROLE
As a Wired System Architect, you will participate in standards bodies, understand wired communication technology trends, and define products—including silicon, IP, and boards. You will develop system reference designs and architecture proposals, engage customers and ecosystem partners for solution development, and enable sales and field enablement for AMD technology adoption. The role requires experience in system architecture, engineering, design and implementation, test and validation, and performance benchmarking at leading OEMs in the wired communications infrastructure sector.

Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities, perseverance in the face of obstacles, and a commitment to documenting and sharing best design practices are essential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Product planning and road‑mapping for FPGA/SoC, IP, and custom ASIC aligned with emerging use cases.
- Identify customer system requirements and develop architecture proposals to differentiate, reduce cost, power, and time‑to‑market, focusing on North American customers.
- Contribute to business strategy and support its execution through sales enablement and demand generation.
- Define system design requirements, and design and implement system reference designs.
- Mobilize and lead internal engineering teams and partners to deliver IP and reference designs on time.
- Collaborate with silicon and marketing teams to align on product and market requirements.
- Enable sales and field teams to drive AMD technology adoption, supporting business, revenue, and profitability goals.
- Years of design and development experience of wired subsystems at leading OEM vendors using FPGA/SoC and/or ASICs.
- Deep knowledge of Ethernet protocols, security standards, packet/optical networks, and broadband access technologies.
- Expertise in RTL design, FPGA tools, and ASIC design methodologies.
- Experience in performance benchmarking, power optimization, and thermal design considerations for wired subsystems.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced environments with shifting deadlines.
- Strong project and process management, analytical, and consulting skills.
- Expertise in using AI/ML tools for productivity and automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master’s or PhD is a plus).
- Santa Clara, CA (team‑based), with flexibility for other locations depending on candidate experience.
