Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Network and Traffic - USDS

Responsibilities

The infrastructure team of US Tech Services Department at Tik Tok supports the company's fast growth by building and operating hyper-scale datacenters, managing the life cycle of server fleet, providing cloud solutions, and developing various infrastructure services and making sure they are scalable and are reliable.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed infrastructures. Our SREs are tasked to ensure the infrastructure services are reliable, fault-tolerant, efficiently scalable and cost-effective.

• Design, build, operate and optimize Tik Tok network, not limited to, backbone, public cloud and Edge/CDN.
• Design, manage, operate and contribute to the development of our Layer7 Load Balancer, CDN origin and DNS.
• Troubleshoot network and / or traffic issues in partnership with our Data Center Partners.
• Work with cross-functional teams including but not limited to compute, storage, database, application teams to drive the innovation and evolution of Tik Tok network.
• Work with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, perform testing and verification.
• Participate in the global oncall rotation to support production traffic and networking issues.

Minimum qualifications:

• Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, RSVP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS related technologies.
• Good understanding of network monitoring protocols and tools, such as SNMP, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry.
• Hands on experience with one or more of the following:
  Load Balancers, DNS, CDN origin, Datacenter networking.
• Familiar with data center network architecture, such as CLOS.
• Self-motivated, good communication, written skills and team player.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field, or experience of three or more years in related field.

• Significant experience configuring and optimizing Nginx.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols and implementation in hyper-scale data center networks.
• In-depth knowledge of public cloud architecture, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Ali Cloud, OCI, etc.
• Good understanding of IPv6 and IPv4-IPv6 co-existence technologies.
• Programming/scripting in Python, Go or other languages.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $187040 - $359720 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
