This role is designed for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take on broader ownership, operate closely with senior leadership, and grow into full responsibility for Mission Wealth’s accounting and core controller function over the next 12–18 months.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance to modernize Mission Wealth’s accounting foundation, transition ownership from external partners to internal leadership, and build scalable processes that support long‑term growth.
Mission Wealth has grown rapidly, and our finance platform is entering a new phase of maturity. Over time, this role will assume increasing responsibility for accounting operations, controls, and close discipline, eventually leading the Core Finance function as a Controller.
This is not a maintenance role. It is an opportunity to help design, implement, and ultimately own the accounting infrastructure of a growing national firm.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, 5‑8 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably within wealth management or financial services, and a CPA designation is preferred. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of GAAP and sound accounting judgment. A clear communicator who partners effectively with finance leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Key Skills and Requirements as Accounting Manager- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within wealth management or financial services.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and spreadsheet management.
- Experience with financial reporting and cash flow management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with both internal teams and external partners.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with wealth management industry practices and regulations.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting platform, CRM, Client portfolio reporting platform, and Expense management platform.
- Strong project management experience.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Mission Wealth and external accounting, tax, audit, and capital partners, ensuring timely, accurate financial support as the firm scales.
- Take increasing ownership of the monthly close process, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP‑compliant financial statements.
- Oversee core transactional accounting functions, including accounts payable (and related system implementation), corporate card activity, and expense reporting.
- Maintain capital and equity‑related records, including equity administration through Carta and associated financial reporting requirements.
- Support the development of scalable internal controls, audit documentation, and financial governance appropriate for a growing private equity‑backed organization.
