NACG are seeking an experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.
This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.
For this role, NACG offers a combined gross rate of up to $68.35/hour as well as room for growth!
Where You’ll Be Working

Ruth Lake - Schedule:
14 x 14, 12 hour days (paid for 12 hours). Days/Nights. - Accommodations:
Camp is not provided. $15 Living Out Allowance per hour. - Transportation:
Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts). - Overtime:
Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week.

ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Be Doing
- Complete repairs on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi equipment of all sizes.
- Work closely with peers in both maintenance and operations.
- Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
- Evaluate equipment performance and inspect to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Trouble shooting systems – example: hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired.
- Order required repair parts, complete reports and fill out work orders.
- Teach and evaluate apprentices and mentor Mechanics.
- Follow NACG codes of practice and Safe Operating Procedures.
- Other maintenance duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyman certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
- Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit professional work behaviors.
- Committed to continuous learning.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
What Makes You The ONE
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post Journeyman (Journeyperson) certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.

- A valid Alberta Journeyman (Journeyperson) Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman (Journeyperson) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
- Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
- Previous experience on a Safety Sensitive work site an asset
What's Next
If you are chosen to move forward in our hiring process for a site-based role, you will be asked to provide the following:
- Provide a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
- Valid CSO or BSO , OHS Alberta Legislation, Silica Awarenees, Field Ergonomics, Wood Buffalo Wildlife, Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness. These can be obtained through Energy Safety Canada.
- Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing:
- Breath Alcohol Test
- Urine Drug Test
- Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment
- Audiometric Testing
- Vision Screening
- Criminal Record Check
