Sessional Instructor – Introduction to Drama in Education (DRAM 114.3) – Saskatoon

The Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) – Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position.

Location: U of S Campus Saskatoon, SK

Term: September 3, 2025 to December 5, 2025

Remuneration: U of S Sessional Lecturer wage grid

Competition Code: S DRAM

Final date to receive applications: July 7, 2025

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver course instruction for DRAMA 114.3 during the 2025 Fall Term.
  • Implement direct experience of theatre arts and crafts to encourage students’ creative impulse.
  • Engage students with dramatic activities for teachers across all levels, fostering confidence in performance.
  • Develop students’ listening skills, performer impulses, imagination, characterization, silent and spoken improvisation, storytelling, scene breakdown, character development, and critical and creative writing techniques to analyze theatre plays.
  • Manage classroom activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
  • Assess student performance and provide consistent feedback.
  • Apply culturally responsive approaches as appropriate.
Qualifications

The candidate must possess a master's degree and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience in the content area, and be approved by the University of Saskatchewan. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work with Indigenous student populations are assets.
