GRAIN MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE We are looking for a Grain Merchant to contribute to the strategy and execution of the location's grain merchandising plan by managing sourcing and logistics, and guiding customer relations and contract management.
Responsibilities Develop and maintain effective business relationships with current and potential customers, targeting those the company can profitably serve.
Maintain regular contact with customers at the location.
Contact producers on farms based on customer strategies to increase awareness of business needs and develop Crop Plans for key customers.
Develop and implement a merchandising strategy for the location.
Collect grain samples for processing to build a data sample base.
Develop grain contracts reflecting movement opportunities and customer strategy.
Ensure contract compliance, including signature and delivery.
Arrange delivery of grain contracts for weekly grain orders.
Provide timely service, marketing options, contracting options, and advice to current and potential customers.
Arrange customer learning opportunities that provide incremental value.
Stay informed of competitor activities within the market area and recommend marketing program and service revisions.
Participate in market-area promotional activities.
Execute sales programs within the assigned area to meet or exceed budgeted grain volumes and margins.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications Grade 12 or recognized equivalent, supplemented with successful completion of a Certificate in Agriculture, an Agri‑Business Certificate, or equivalent post‑secondary education.
Experience merchandising grain and working knowledge of futures and commodity trading in Canada are preferred.
Proven negotiating and risk‑management skills, with the ability to problem‑solve and make decisions.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered if they meet the required level of knowledge, competencies, skills and abilities.
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
