Lead safety initiatives at Wesdome as an Underground Safety Specialist, enhancing our gold mining operation’s culture and compliance. Your expertise will be key in promoting safety and risk management.

Wesdome Gold Mines is on the hunt for an accomplished Underground Safety Specialist to join our dedicated Health & Safety team. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance and promoting proactive safety measures across operations by conducting inspections and coaching teams. This role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to building trust while influencing safety practices throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct safety audits and compliance inspections

• Monitor adherence to Health & Safety regulations

• Provide on-site coaching to teams and contractors

• Assist in incident investigations and develop safety protocols

• Collaborate to improve overall safety performance

Requirements:

• 5 years in underground mining; at least 2 in safety roles

• Safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) preferred

• In-depth knowledge of mining legislation and safety requirements

• Strong coaching and communication skills

• Willingness to work in a remote setting and proficient in safety reporting
