Position: Registered Nurse Cardiac Catheterization Lab Part Time Sault Ste. Marie)
Responsibilities   Participates and collaborates with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
Effectively uses the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
Provides health teaching to patients and family.
Works in a rapid‑paced setting, assisting a cardiologist with invasive cardiac procedures including angiography, right‑heart catheterizations and measurements, and pacemaker insertions.
Post‑procedure monitoring, including removal of femoral sheaths.
Works wearing a lead apron/vest and thyroid collar (10‑15 lbs) all day.
Qualifications   Certificate of competency in Ontario.
ACLS certification, current.
Current certification in venipuncture (I.V. certification).
ECG interpretation.
Experience   2 years acute care experience.
Active care of cardiology patients and experience in a cardiology department (cardiology clinic, cardiology rehabilitation).
Skills   Demonstrated clinical competency in the management and care of patients.
Knowledgeable in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability   Demonstrated behavior consistent with the hospital’s mission statement and values.
Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, qualified, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
