An opportunity has arisen for an Audio Typist within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Team at Scarborough Hospital. This post may be based at Scarborough or Bridlington Hospital.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can work effectively using their own initiative, as well as being part of a team. They must be a proficient Audio Typist with the ability to transcribe complex digital dictation.
The successful candidate will possess GCSE English Language, Grade C or above, or equivalent. They must also possess excellent typing skills or RSA II level qualification as well as previous clerical/administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or customer‑based setting.

Main duties of the job- Audio typing of outpatient clinic, discharge and general administrative letters.
- Filing, photocopying and other administrative tasks as necessary.
- Provide typing and administrative support to the medical secretariat within the Directorate as required.
- Deal with routine internal telephone queries.
- Respond in a professional and sensitive manner when dealing with confidential issues.

Qualifications- GCSE English Language, Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Word processing skills - RSA II (or equivalent)
- Typing skills - RSA II (or equivalent)
- Previous clerical/administrative experience
- Experience of working in a customer‑focused environment
- Experience of using a variety of IT applications, including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of office applications and procedures
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
