Do you play chess? Teach the game of chess to elementary grade level children!

As a Scholastic Chess Coach or Teacher you would be helping students develop critical thinking and valuable life skills such as Accountability, Effort, Self Control and Empathy, through the dynamic and challenging game of Chess.

Our company teaches over 7,000 children chess annually. We operate four chess academies across Metro Phoenix / Scottsdale.



- teaching children (5 to 10 year olds) the game of Chess.

We are The Chess Emporium, a scholastic chess teaching company in business for 25 years.



- Flexible hours to offer.

- Compensation: Rated Coaches ... $66 - $106 per teaching hour, or Teachers ... $50 - $88 per teaching hour.

Position requires you pass a criminal background check to be issued a Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card from the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety. We will show you the application to submit for the clearance card background check. You already having a current AZ DPS clearance card from your prior work experience is a plus; your coach application will be able to proceed more quickly.



Competence with the game and basic rules.  Able to teach beginners.

Position Requirements
High School,   1 to 2 Years work experience
Experience in the game of Chess. Have you learned and/or studied Chess, either in the past or actively present day? Do you enjoy playing or studying Chess? Do you enjoy strategy and problem solving? Do you have an appreciation for critical thinking and life skills benefits available through Chess?

- Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare students for games, competitive events.
- Teach instructional courses and advise students.
- Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of students.
- Contact the parents of players to provide information and answer questions.
Required Language Skills:
  • English - Good
