This position is responsible for the academic support of students and completes a variety of duties and assignments that combine "hands‑on" direct service and interfaces with public school personnel. This position works closely with the program supervisor and teachers to ensure effective, safe, and coordinated services for all clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:- Develop and implement educational curriculum in coordination with the Clinical Instructor.
- Complete educational assessments/evaluations and/or Curriculum Based Assessments.
- Monitor and manage classroom behaviors to ensure client safety.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships to ensure quality, seamless service for all clients.
- Serve as substitute teacher as necessary.
- Assist with academic planning.
- Attend trainings, in‑services, meetings, and conferences as necessary and as directed.
- Support program staff.
- Prepare bulletin boards monthly.
- Adhere to and promote a "customer service" model of interaction with other departments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
- Education/Training/License/Certification:
- Two years of related experience is required.
- Act 33 and 34 Clearances
- CPR Certification
- SCM Training
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of child/adolescent development, behavior, and peer relationships.
- Working knowledge of contemporary methods of assessment and treatment of the seriously mentally ill.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Requires flexibility, leadership skills, and good judgment.
- Excellent documentation and observation skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the children, their families, other staff, and other agencies.
- Knowledge of calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions.
- Ability to conduct self in a positive manner to serve as role model for staff and clients.
- Must be a mandated reporter of child abuse.
- Must be able to transport self and others.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Knowledge of and ability to use non‑violent crisis intervention.
- Follow all confidentiality and universal precaution guidelines.
