Overview
Join the Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation as a Semi Skilled Laborer and help make a positive difference across Pennsylvania. Your efforts will support abandoned mine land reclamation projects that protect communities and improve the environment.
Responsibilities- Manual Labor
:
Perform tasks such as shoveling, raking, carrying materials, laying pipe, maintaining grounds, and completing landscaping activities. - Equipment Assistance
:
Support equipment operators and construction foremen during abandoned mine land reclamation projects. - Tool Operation
:
Operate, maintain, and repair hand power tools including drills, power saws, chainsaws, and multi‑purpose saws. - Vehicle Operation
:
Drive truck and trailer combinations on secondary roads throughout western Pennsylvania. - Equipment Maintenance
:
Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and other equipment after training. - Record Keeping
:
Maintain daily reports of equipment usage and record hours of operation.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Telework
:
This position does not offer telework. - Salary
:
New employees with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. - License
:
Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License or equivalent. - Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
