Position: County Caseworker 2 (Local Government) - Crawford County C&Y (Multiple Vacancies)

Children and Youth Services Caseworker 2

Responsibilities
  • Intake Assessment:
    Evaluate new referrals and determine the level of support needed.
  • Ongoing Services:
    Deliver continued assistance to families as they work toward safety and stability.
  • Family Guidance:
    Provide counseling and support that encourages healthy decision‑making.
  • Safety Planning:
    Develop strategies that protect children and promote safe home environments.
  • Case Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records and reports for all casework activities.
  • Resource Coordination:
    Connect families with community services that support long‑term success.
Work Schedule and Benefits
  • Full‑time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch break.
  • Rotation for late person (Intake department) and on‑call (Intake and Ongoing departments).
  • Telework: not available for this position.
  • Salary: $41,150.20 – $45,354.40 (subject to union contract).
Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor’s degree supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants who are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credit are considered to have met the educational requirements.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under that law, a conditional offer of employment requires submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
