The Market and Customer Intelligence Manager defines long‑term strategy for the commercial organization by deepening our understanding of current and potential customers of Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). As an individual contributor, this person will play a key role by being a subject matter expert in our market and customer data. They will do this by developing our customer data platform as well as performing statistical analyses and advanced predictive modeling to derive result‑oriented insights.
KeyDuties
- With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgment to perform complex, rigorous statistical analyses and machine learning modeling, including forecasting of customer behavior, to develop and continuously improve segmentation, near‑term value, and lead scoring.
- Act as a subject matter expert in market and customer data and analysis.
- Mine data for customer insights to make recommendations for optimization across markets, customer segments, strategic business priorities, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Lead the development of a customer data platform including bringing together data from a variety of sources, enhancing the data by tying sources together, and enhancing gold layer data sources with sophisticated business logic.
- Apply strong critical thinking skills to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, and ask probing questions that deepen understanding and improve decision‑making across a wide variety of domains and teammate skillsets.
- Proactively drive analysis to inform strategic business decisions with an unending focus on driving outcomes.
- Effectively communicate complex analysis and insights to stakeholders of all types both inside and outside of the commercial organization such as brand marketing, e‑commerce, and IT services.
- Collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders by both understanding business goals and needs as well as proactively aligning with other data‑focused peers to align best practices and refine your approach.
- Partner with IT engineers to drive the continuous improvement of our data collection processes.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis within aviation, e‑commerce, behavioral economics, marketing, or customer insights and analytics, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, industrial engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, economics, or related quantitative field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methods relevant to modeling, including hypothesis testing, forecasting and regression analysis (linear, logistic, etc.), as well as supervised and unsupervised machine learning.
- Demonstrated experience working with large, complex datasets from disparate sources, including data mining, cleaning, manipulation, and preparation.
- Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and with a programming language such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to executive level leadership and communicating complex ideas in an understandable manner to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Database design experience using relational databases such as Oracle, Databricks, Snowflake, etc. for data engineering, analytics or machine learning.
- Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi‑task and work independently in a very dynamic environment.
