Overview

Under the supervision of the Youth Development Program Coordinator, this position supports the delivery of youth development programming that promotes academic success, social-emotional growth, and leadership development. The Youth Development Specialist facilitates activities, builds relationships with youth and families, and supports engagement in programs designed to strengthen connection to school, community, and positive identity development. This role contributes to program outcomes through service delivery, collaboration, and alignment with agency and program standards.

Essential

Duties
  • Deliver youth development services aligned with program goals, contract requirements, and agency standards
  • Promote positive youth development outcomes, including academic engagement, social-emotional growth, and leadership development
  • Support participant engagement, retention, and connection to school and community
  • Maintain compliance with program requirements, data tracking expectations, and confidentiality standards
  • Demonstrate alignment with ASC values, policies, and practices
  • Collaborate effectively with staff, families, and community partners to support program success
  • Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for youth participants
Major Responsibilities

Program Facilitation & Youth Engagement

  • Facilitate youth development activities and group-based programming that support academic, social-emotional, and leadership development
  • Support youth engagement and retention through relationship-building and consistent outreach
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that promotes positive youth development and a sense of belonging
  • Model appropriate behavior, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Provide academic support and individualized attention to participants as needed
  • Support development and delivery of culturally responsive programming that promotes leadership, positive identity, and life skills
  • Assist with coordination of youth participation in workshops, events, and community engagement opportunities
  • Support planning and facilitation of program activities, including field trips, workshops, and group sessions

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, families, and community partners to support program participation and outreach
  • Support recruitment and outreach efforts to engage youth and families in programming
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to strengthen program delivery and participant support
  • Engage families and caregivers to promote awareness of program services and youth development outcomes

Program Coordination, Reporting & Documentation

  • Support program operations, including coordination of activities, scheduling, and logistics
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant engagement, attendance, and activities
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and evaluation efforts to support program accountability
  • Administer participant surveys and support tracking of program outcomes
  • Provide regular updates and reports to program leadership as requested

Program Support & Operations

  • Support daily program operations, including activity setup, coordination, and maintaining program spaces and materials
  • Ensure program resources, equipment, and facilities are maintained in a safe and respectful manner
  • Participate in staff meetings, program planning sessions, and inter-agency collaboration efforts
  • Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets, reports, and documentation in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field preferred

Experience:

Experience working with youth, preferably in group facilitation, youth development, or community-based programs. Experience supporting youth and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds is highly valued.
