Part‑Time Faculty Pool – Adult Education (AE) Instructor

Position Summary

The Seattle Colleges system is seeking innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse college community that serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part‑time in a wide range of political science courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.

Successful applicants may be invited to interview at one of the colleges in the Seattle Colleges District (North Seattle, Seattle Central, or South Seattle). Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor’s background, scheduling, and available courses.

Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in‑class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT‑Seattle.

Salary range for part‑time faculty: $7,110.33 – $10,649.33 (P1: A1‑E7). The workload for this specific class may increase to up to 10 credits per quarter, which would be compensated accordingly within the stated salary range.

  • Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.
What you bring as a candidate
  • An understanding of the goals and role of the community college.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels on the topic of study.
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in the field or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse college community that serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds.
  • Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting.

Office Setting
  • Ability to operate office equipment, receive and interpret data, and prepare various materials.

  • Work is performed primarily in office settings with frequent interruptions and common office noises.
